Ayurvedic Treatment for Pangastritis - Symptoms, Causes, Home Remedies, Diet & Lifestyle

Pangastritis is defined as the inflammation of entire lining of the stomach. The inflammation of gastritis is most often seen as the result of infection with the same bacterium that causes stomach ulcers. Pangastritis can occur suddenly known as acute gastritis or appear slowly over time known as chronic gastritis.

When we eat food, it goes down through the food pipe and it is stored in stomach for about 1.5-2 hours. In the stomach, food undergoes disintegration into small particles. HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) kills the micro-organisms present in the food. The small portion of the food is absorbed. After 1.5-2 hours, the food is pushed down to intestine for further digestion.

If the inner lining of the stomach is irritated or damaged or inflamed, this condition is known as gastritis. The stomach lining can become inflamed due to certain reasons like heavy alcohol consumption, eating spicy and junk food, stress etc.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF PANGASTRITIS?

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Burning ache or pain in the upper abdomen
  • Feeling of fullness in the upper abdomen after eating.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF PANGASTRITIS?

  • In erosive gastritis drugs, alcohol, acute stress and infection can precipitate the condition.
  • In most non-erosive gastritis conditions, H.pylori often found in people who suffer from no significant symptoms of gastritis. The symptoms appear when the gut becomes a conducive environment for H.pylori to colonise. According to Ayurvedic concept, the inbuild of toxins and impurities, blockage of proper circulation in the gut creates ground for mucosal irritation from both the toxins and H.pylori growth.

According to Ayurveda, root causes of Pangastritis are poor eating habits, taking incompatible food, intake of spicy and fried foods. Due to these foods, food is not digested properly and it provokes the excess of acidic secretion and thus results in gastric irritation.

AYURVEDIC TREATMENT FOR PANGASTRITIS

According to Ayurveda, this disease is of Pitta origin so all measures are undertaken to pacify Pitta, therefore medicament should subside the irritation. After once complete remission of the complaints, elixirs are prescribed so as to check the re-manifestation of the similar conditions in coming days.

According to Ayurveda, line of treatment for pangastritis involves the following steps:

  • Correction of digestive enzymes
  • Healing of the inflamed stomach lining (gastric mucosa)
  • Correction of secretion of gastric juices
  • Achieving overall balanced function of stomach.

SOME HOME REMEDIES FOR PANGASTRITIS ARE

  1. Regular chewing of half a teaspoon of fennel seeds after food helps in relieving burning sensation in the stomach.
  2. Half glass buttermilk added with a pinch of asafoetida, half teaspoon of fenugreek seeds can be taken with food.

Ayurvedic Treatment for PCOS - Diet & Home Remedies

Incidence of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is increasing now-a-days because of sedentary lifestyle, excessive intake of junk food, pollution, etc. The word “Syndrome” is used to describe PCOS because it is a complex manifestation involving many factors and organs such as—obesity, irregular menstrual bleeding, abnormal menstrual periods, insulin resistance, lack of ovum production etc. It causes worry as it is commonly found in reproductive age and it is thought to be one of the leading causes of female infertility. It is diagnosed in women when they are seeking medical advice for infertility as well as irregular menstrual bleeding, majority of these cases are treated by hormonal therapy or surgical intervention but PCOS can be taken care by Ayurvedic treatment, diet and home remedies.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a condition where hormonal imbalance affects the follicular growth during the ovarian cycle causing the affected follicles to remain in the ovary. The retained follicle forms a cyst and with each ovarian cycle, a new cyst is formed leading to multiple ovarian cysts.

The ovarian cycle is governed by a hormonal feedback system moderated by the hypothalamus, thus it requires constant feedback of hormones to properly regulate the release of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) Lutenizing Hormone (LH) from the anterior pituitary gland. The hormonal feedback that the hypothalamus receives is due to the high levels of oestrogen that has been formed from free androgens in the peripheral tissue.

ORGANS INVOLVED IN POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME

  1. Ovary - The female gonad organ present at either sides of the uterus.
  2. Adrenal glands - These are present just above both the kidneys.
  3. Pancreas - It is a gland which produces insulin in the body.
  4. Pituitary Gland - It is a gland present just below the brain responsible for hormonal control.

PCOS ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA

Ayurveda suggests that PCOS is a disorder involving Pitta, Kapha Vata (Apana Vayu), Medas and Artav dhatu. Mainly gynaecological disorders are due to the imbalance of Vata dosha. The causes of PCOS according to Ayurveda are eating heavy foods that increase Kapha doshas in the body like - consumption of sweet, heavy foods, low digestion strength. Pushpagani Rewati mentioned by Master Kashyap in Ayurvedic texts bears some similarity with the symptoms of PCOS. When the deranged Vata vitiates the mamsa, shonita and meda mixed up with Kapha, they produce circular, raised and knotted inflammatory swelling called "Granthi". This type of glandular swelling is compared with the modern terminology known as - cyst which is an abnormal closed epithelium-lined cavity containing liquid or semi-solid material.

The biggest contributor of PCOS is the poor diet. Young women with PCOS tend to eat too much sugar or carbonized drinks and highly refined carbohydrates which causes unhealthy rise in insulin levels. This type of diet causes obesity thus aggravating PCOS. Women who are stressed tend to eat more food that are high in fat, carbohydrates and sugar in response to stress. Thus, it can be concluded that the modern stressful lifestyle and food habits are contribute in the development of PCOS. Ayurvedic treatment involves applying a multi-pronged approach towards correcting the hormonal imbalance, treatment to insulin resistance and treatment of obesity and avoiding high cholesterol levels.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME?

  1. The principal signs and symptoms of PCOS are - menstrual disturbance and elevated levels of male hormones known as - androgens. Thus, women complain of hair on face, acne, alopecia.
  2. Obesity
  3. Infertility due to improper ovulation
  4. Absence of menstruation/ scanty menstrual bleeding / abnormally high and irregular bleeding.
  5. Dark coloured band like skin lesion may be developed at the back of the neck, inner thighs and axilla known as acanthosis nigricans.
  6. Bilateral enlarged cystic ovaries are revealed when examined internally.

DIAGNOSIS

The diagnosis of PCOS is mainly based upon the clinical presentation together with USG (Ultra Sonography findings) and hormonal profile appropriate to mode of presentation.

Tinnitus (Ringing in the ears) Treatment in Ayurveda

Tinnitus is the condition, where an individual perceives a ringing sensation or a sensation of noise in ears. It is quite a common disorder. And, it affects almost every single individual out of 5 people. It is not a complication itself. However, it is a symptom of some of the complications like ear injury, hearing loss due to age or complication in cardio vascular system. Though it is not a serious issue, yet it is bothersome to a huge extent. And, it gets worsened further with age. However, the condition can improve with medications and treatments.

TYPES OF TINNITUS

Tinnitus is basically of two major types. These are as follows:

1. Subjective Tinnitus

It is a condition where only the patient can hear. It is supposed to be the most common type of disorder. It is caused due to the complications in the outer, middle or inner ear. Some other causes of the disorder is the complication in the auditory nerve or other parts of the brain, which interpret the signals of the nerve as sound.

2. Objective Tinnitus

It is a type of tinnitus, where the doctor can also hear the ringing sound while carrying out an examination. This is a rare type. And, it is caused by the complication in the blood vessels, condition of the middle ear bone and muscular contractions as well.

MAJOR CAUSES OF TINNITUS

There are a number of serious health conditions, which give rise to the condition of tinnitus. Though, the exact cause is hard to find, but the common cause of this condition is damage of the cells of the inner ear. The delicate, tiny hairs of the inner ear make movement due to the pressure created by the sound waves. This situation triggers the ear cells and release electric signal through the auditory nerves (nerve from the ear) to the brain. The brain then interprets this signal as the sound. If these hairs are broken, there occurs a leakage of the electric impulses randomly to the brain. And, this often leads to tinnitus. Age related hearing complication, too much exposure to the loud noise, blockages of the ear wax, changes in ear bones, injuries, chronic health complications and other related ear complications are some of the common causes of this disorder. Some other causes of this disorder are the disorders related to temporomandibular joint on the sides of the head in front of the ears, Meniere's disorder, accoustic neuroma and injuries on the neck and the head. The disorder may be caused due to disorders related to the blood vessels, which include atherosclerosis, neck tumor, high blood pressure, arteriovenous malformation, irregular and turbulent blood flow. And, disorder due to complications in blood vessels is known as the Pulsatile tinnitus. This is a rare condition.

COMMON SYMPTOMS OF TINNITUS

Tinnitus gives rise to the irritating feeling of hearing a tingling sensation always even in the absence of the external sound. The various types of symptoms include the noises of ringing, buzzing, clicking, roaring and hissing sounds. The pitch of the noise may vary and it may happen that you may hear it in both the ears or only in one ear. It may come and vanish from time to time or may be present all throughout the time.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment in Ayurveda

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic and painful disease; it progresses step by step due to inflammation in the joints.

In Ayurveda it is correlated with Ama vata, said to be caused by weak Jatharagni or digestive fire due to which "Ama" an undigested by-product of the impaired digestion is produced. This Ama circulates in the whole body and deposits or gets collected in the body parts. When it deposits in the joints and at the same time if the level of vata increases in the body, there is quivering and breaking pain in the limbs and joints, as if crackling." But, "if it is localized in a particular joint, it produces swelling that feels like an air-filled bladder and produces pain on movement; this description is suggestive of arthritis

Vata doesn't increase at random in every joint throughout the body. It affects one part – mainly a joint – and gradually spreads to other joints.

Causes

  • Normally a complex set of genes helps the body cells recognize and attack foreign invaders. There are many different kinds of white blood cells (WBC) and important proteins that help recognize and protect against certain foreign chemicals.

In an autoimmune disease, WBCs react to proteins that are supposed to be in our body ("self" proteins). RA is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks synovial membranes. These membranes surround joints. As they are attacked, they thicken with inflammation. The process begins to destroy cartilage and bone inside the joint.

  • Poor eating habits and weak digestion
  • Certain behaviors, such as smoking, make RA more likely
  • Inherited tendency.-Certain genes linked to a protein called the Human Leukocyte Antigen can make RA more of a risk
  • Women are two to three times more likely to get RA than men
  • Obesity increases the likelihood of developing RA
  • Chemical exposures like insecticides ,  traffic pollution, hairspray, and lipstick might have chemicals that can cause an increased risk

Symptoms

  • Tender, warm, swollen joints
  • Inflammation
  • Joint mobility is affected
  • Joint stiffness that is usually worse in the mornings and after inactivity
  • Fatigue, fever and weight loss
  • Disease affects smaller joints first - particularly the joints that attach fingers to hands and toes to feet.
  • As the disease progresses, symptoms often spread to the wrists, knees, ankles, elbows, hips and shoulders. In most cases, symptoms occur in the same joints on both sides of body.

Diagnosis Methods

  • Changes in an RA sufferer's immune system can occur years before symptoms develop. Anti-CCP antibodies are more specific for diagnosing RA than the RF antibody. Anti-CCP may be detected years before the onset of disease.
  • Rheumatoid Factor (Quantitative) test
  • Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate
  • Serum uric acid (for exclusion)
  • X-ray of the affected joint
  • Routine urine, blood examination

Ayurvedic Medicines should be given for improving Digestion so that no further ama is produced and to relieve the pain, improving the lubrication of joints and inflammation. Planet Ayurveda offers a combination of Medicines as RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS CARE PACK which consists of:

Because of their Agnivriddhikara property they increase digestive power which also digests Amarasa and reduces excessive production of Kapha and also removes the obstruction of the Srotas. Because of Tikshna Guna and Ushna Virya it also alleviates vitiated Vata and reduces Srotorodha and pain. Thus Nirgundi controls Ama and Vata together and minimize the process of pathogenesis.
