  • Immunity – means the self resistance power of our body to fight with the infection or any harmful pathogen that has been entered in our body.
  • In Ayurveda we correlate this with “VYADHI KSHMATAV” (disease fighting power. “Oja” (immunity power) is considered to be the main reason to provide this vyadhi kshmatav to the body.

As per ayurveda 0ja (immunity power) is defined as-

Ayurvedic Treatment for Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura with Herbal Remedies

Abstract

Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune condition characterized by a reduced platelet count in the bloodstream. It is an autoimmune disorder that results in reduced platelet count in the blood. It has varying incidence and prevalence rate depending on age and gender. In children,ITP occurs at a rate of approximately 1.9 to 6.4 cases per 100,000 children each year, with the condition most commonly affecting those between the age of 2 and 6. In contrast, adults experience lower incidences, with about 3 to 4 cases per 100,000 people annually. However, ITP tends to be more prevalent among women, particularly those between 20 and 50 years old. The prevalence of ITP is harder to pinpoint due to the chronic nature of some cases, but it is clear that ITP can affect individuals of any age. Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) can be correlated with Tiryagata Raktapitta in certain ways, especially in terms of their clinical manifestations and the underlying principles related to blood pathology.

Introduction

Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system generates antibodies that target and destroy the body's own platelets (thrombocytes). This leads to purpura, characterized by small blood spots appearing under the skin due to bleeding. Under normal conditions, when a blood vessel is injured, hemostasis is activated to stop the bleeding. ITP can be a serious condition, the prognosis is generally favourable for most people, especially when the disease is diagnosed and managed early.

How ITP Causes Platelet Destruction

In ITP, B-cell activation triggers the production of IgG autoantibodies that specifically target platelet glycoproteins, such as GPIIb/IIIa and GPIb/IX. These antibodies coat platelets, marking them for destruction by the immune system. The immune system recognizes these antibody-coated platelets as non-self (foreign). Splenic macrophages (immune cells in the spleen) identify and bind to the antibody-coated platelets. The splenic macrophages engulf and destroy the antibody-coated platelets, leading to extravascular hemolysis. As platelet destruction increases, the number of platelets in the blood drops, leading to thrombocytopenia. This makes it harder for the blood to form clots, putting people at risk for easy bruising, bleeding and other complications such as hemorrhage in severe cases.

Types of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

Types of ITP can be classified on the basis of the duration and underlying causes they are as follow:

1. Primary ITP (Idiopathic)

  • This is the most common form of ITP and occurs without any underlying disease or known cause.
  • It’s thought to be an autoimmune disorder where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys its own platelets.

2. Secondary ITP

It occurs as a result of another condition or factor that triggers the immune system to attack platelets.

3. Acute ITP

  • Often occurs in children, typically following a viral infection.
  • Symptoms develop suddenly and are usually severe but often resolve on their own or with short-term treatment.

4. Chronic ITP

  • It is a long term condition that persists for more than 12 months.
  • It can affect both adults and children.
  • It often requires long-term treatment.

5. Persistent ITP

It is a form of ITP that lasts for 3 to 12 months.

Causes of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

The exact cause of Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) is often unknown, especially in primary ITP, but there are several factors that can contribute to its development. Here are the main causes:

1. Primary ITP (Idiopathic)

It is thought to be autoimmune. Its exact cause is unknown.

2. Secondary ITP (due to underlying condition)

  • Viral Infections: HIV, Hepatitis C, Epstein-Barr, CMV, Varicella-zoster.
  • Autoimmune Diseases: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Medications: Heparin, Quinine, Penicillin, Chemotherapy drugs.
  • Post-Viral/Infectious: Can develop after viral infections, especially in children.
  • Lymphoproliferative Disorders: Lymphoma, Leukemia.

3. Genetic Factors

Family history of autoimmune conditions or ITP may increase the risk.

4. Environmental Factor

Infection, stress or vaccination may trigger ITP in some cases.

Signs and Symptoms of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

Early recognition of signs and symptoms can help in early detection of ITP, they are as follow:

  1. Easy Bruising - Frequent and unexplained bruise from minor bumps, due to low platelet count.
  2. Petechiae - Small red or purple dots on the skin, often appearing on legs or feet, caused by tiny blood vessel rupture.
  3. Purpura - Large purple or red patches on the skin from bleeding under the skin, usually without injury.
  4. Prolonged Bleeding - Extended bleeding from cuts, scrapes, or minor injuries, and frequent nosebleeds or gum bleeding.
  5. Heavy Menstrual Bleeding (Menorrhagia) - Women may experience unusually heavy or prolonged menstrual problems.
  6. Fatigue - Feeling usually tired or weak.
  7. Internal Bleeding - Symptoms of internal bleeding such as blood in the urine or stool.
  8. Enlarged Spleen (Splenomegaly) - In some cases, the spleen may become enlarged, causing discomfort in the upper left abdomen.

Diagnosis of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

Diagnosis of ITP involves a series of steps to confirm a low platelet count and rule out other potential causes of thrombocytopenia. They are as follow:

  1. Medical history
  2. Physical exam to check common signs of ITP such as bruising, petechiae, purpura, as well as enlarged spleen.
  3. Blood tests
    • Complete blood count (CBC)
    • Peripheral blood smear
  4. Antibody testing to check autoantibodies against platelets.
  5. Imaging tests
    • Ultrasound
    • CT scan
  6. Rheumatoid Factor and ANA (if suspected autoimmune cause) - Tests for autoimmune conditions like Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).

Management of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

Management of ITP involves a range of treatments aimed at increasing platelet count, reducing immune-mediated platelet destruction, and preventing bleeding. Treatment of ITP involves:

1. First-line Treatments

  • Corticosteroids (e.g., Prednisone): Suppress immune response to increase platelet count.
  • IVIg: Rapid platelet increase, especially for bleeding or surgery.
  • Anti-D Immunoglobulin (for Rh-positive): Alternative to IVIg for raising platelet levels.

2. Second-Line Treatments

  • Rituximab: Targets B-cells to reduce autoantibody production.
  • Thrombopoietin Receptor Agonists (Eltrombopag, Romiplostim): Stimulate platelet production in the bone marrow.

3. Platelet Transfusion

Used in severe bleeding or extremely low platelet counts.

4. Supportive Care

Avoid injury and monitor platelet counts regularly.

5. Surgical Option

Splenectomy: Removal of the spleen to reduce platelet destruction in chronic cases.

Complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

  • Intracranial bleeding
  • Subarachnoid haemorrhage
  • Gastrointestinal haemorrhage
  • Hematuria
  • Severe menorrhagia

Ayurvedic Aspect

According to ayurveda, Raktapitta occurs when pitta contaminates the rakta due to its ushana guna (hot quality), causing it to leak from the body through various routes. This condition is categorised into three types based on the direction of the blood flow. They are as follow

  • Udharvagata raktapitta - Caused by the snigdha (oily) and ushna (hot) qualities of Pitta, leading to bleeding from upward orifices like the mouth, nose, ears, and eyes.
  • Adhogata raktapitta - Triggered by hot and dry food, which vitiates vata and pitta, causing bleeding from lower orifices such as the rectum, vagina and urinary tract.
  • Tiryak gata raktapitta - When all doshas are aggravated, wrestling in bleeding into the subcutaneous tissue and skin, causing bruising or petechiae.

Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) can be associated with tiryak raktapitta. The clinical representation of tiryak raktapitta aligns with the symptoms of ITP, especially the subcutaneous bleeding and easy bruising. When certain nidanas (factors) are consumed, they aggravate the pitta dosha. This contamination of pitta mixes with the blood, causing it to become impure. The hot nature of pitta causes the liquid element of other tissues like mamsa dhatu (muscle) and meda dhatu (fat) to leak out of their respective tissues and mix into blood. This increases the amount of rakta dhatu (blood) beyond its normal level. As a result, the volume of the blood flowing through the blood vessels increases, creating excessive pressure. The heat from the pitta combined with high blood pressure weakens the wall of the blood vessel, causing them to rupture. This leads to blood leaking out through various orifices of the body, such as the mouth, nose, ears, eyes, skin, anus, penis and vagina, these are the body`s nav dwar (nine opening). This leakage of blood contaminated by Pitta through these orifices is called Raktapitta. When the blood becomes even more vitiated, it can flow out through Romakupa (hair follicles), which is known as Tiryak Gata Raktapitta. This is a condition dominated by Pitta, which can eventually evolve into a Tridoshaja Vyadhi (a disorder involving all three doshas) with Pitta being the primary dosha involved.

Samprapti (pathology) ghatakas (components)

  • Dosha (humor) - Pitta Pradhana Tridoshaja
  • Dushya (affected tissues) - Rakta (blood), Rasa (plasma), mamsa (muscle), Sira (blood vessel)
  • Agni (fire) - Jatharagni (digestive fire), Dhatvagni (metabolic fire), Bhutagni(fire that possesses elements)
  • Aama(toxin) - Kostha (stomach)
  • Srotas (channel) - Raktavaha (channel carrying blood), Rasavaha (channel carrying plasm), Annavaha (channel carrying food) and other Srotas according to Avastha.
  • Sroto Dusti - Sanga (congested), Vimarga Gamana (improper movement) and Atipravrutti (excessive flow)
  • Adhistana (location) - Yakrut (liver) and Pliha (spleen)
  • Vyaktasthana (site of manifestation) - Tiryaka Bahya Srotas
  • Rogamarga (path of disease progression) - Bahya (outer) and Abhyantara (interior)

Management (according to ayurveda)

In ayurveda, the treatment would focus on balancing pitta, promoting blood health and purifying the body of toxins. Pitta and rakta (blood) pacifying drugs such as Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Kutaj (Holarrhena antidysenterica), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) and Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri). Panchkarma therapies such as virechana (purgation) and raktamokshana (bloodletting) can be used in detoxification of the body and cleansing blood. The combination of cooling, detoxifying and immune strengthening herbs along with proper lifestyle modification can help manage these conditions effectively.

INTRODUCTION

What is Mantra Therapy?

Mantras are used for a variety of purposes, including healing, meditation, personal development, and prayer. This can be done by linking your breath to the vibration of sound; the repetition of the sacred word helps you to enter a deep meditative state. That helps to clear all your negative thoughts and connect you to your higher self and the divine. Mantra therapy is the practice of doing all of these things for the purpose of healing; therapy is the treatment of a mental or physical illness without the use of drugs or surgery.

TYPES OF MANTRA USED FOR HEALING

1. OM Mantra

"OM" is believed to be the universe's original, primordial tone and vibration. This is the most powerful of all mantras and sacred formulas. Om's chakra is the pineal gland, also known as the third eye. And the role of a healthy chakra is to enhance perceptive ability. The om symbol has the three syllables, A-U-M, that represent the number of important trinities, including:

The three Vedas scriptures:

  • Rigveda
  • Yajurveda
  • Samaveda

The three gunas / Energies of nature:

  • Sattva denotes balance and harmony.
  • Rajas symbolizes action and enthusiasm.
  • Tamas denotes inertia and darkness.

The major three gods:

  • Brahma: the creator
  • Vishnu: the preserver
  • Shiva: the destroyer

How Does An Om Mantra Heal Our Body?

Chanting the OM mantra in the morning in an open, clean area can improve our breathing and also clear the lungs so that the circulation will be made easy. The pressure exerted through our lungs thus helps with the heart rate. Patients suffering from breathing or heart problems can recite the Om mantra to improve their cardiac health.

Yoga or exercise can be done for at least 5-10 minutes at the start or end. This will increase the effectiveness of yoga while also calming the mind and body. Chanting OM before bedtime helped to clear the mental clutter that had accumulated throughout the day. Chanting this mantra intensifies the sacred energy and vibrations.

How Food Preservatives Impacting Your Immune System? Food Additives are Making You Sick

ABSTRACT

Unfortunately, the word "preservative" is associated with negative connotations. There are several food additives, including artificial preservatives, that have similar negative effects. Everyone wants to eat clean and healthy food, so health comes first. There is a wide variety of processed and canned food products on the market. This affects many children, adults, and senior citizens, causing serious and life-threatening problems. The artificial preservatives harm the heart, liver, immune cells, kidneys, and other parts of the body. To avoid all of these serious health concerns, Planet Ayurveda created the "immunity care kit," which contains a variety of essential herbs that aid in the natural regeneration of immune cells and the fight against infectious diseases.

Keywords: natural and artificial preservatives, salt and sugar, TBHQ, food additives, immune boosters, standardized herbs, vikramprash, cancer-causing additives.

WHAT ARE PRESERVATIVES?

Preservatives are food additives that help food last longer and taste better. Preservatives were added to prevent food spoilage, making the food appear fresh even if it was prepared several days before. Food's odor, texture, color, and taste all appear to be the same, making it difficult to distinguish between fresh and unfresh foods.

HOW DO PRESERVATIVES WORK?

Preservatives help to control and prevent food deterioration, providing protection against spoilage caused by microbes such as bacteria, yeast, molds, and fungi. Preservatives are substances that play a crucial role in preventing foodborne illnesses and maintaining the quality of various products. They work by inhibiting the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts, and molds, which can cause food spoilage and illness. Additionally, preservatives can slow down or stop oxidation, a chemical reaction that can lead to the degradation of food and other perishable items. By doing so, preservatives help extend the shelf life of products and ensure their safety and quality for consumers.

TYPES OF PRESERVATIVES

There are natural and artificial types of preservatives that have been added to the food products. Broadly, preservatives are categorized as antioxidants. To prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast, fungi and certain microbes. It is sometimes mandatory to use food additives, such as in pickles, where we add excess oil for its increased shelf life.

Table No. 1 - Below the table show the natural and artificial preservatives

Natural Preservatives Artificial Preservatives
The natural ones are derived from natural sources such as plants and animals. These are only made and synthesized in laboratories with the help of chemicals.
Oil, sugar, salt, vinegar, organic acids, and spices are among the listed ingredients. All of these act together to form a layer on the food surface. Nitrites, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, sulfites, and propionic acid are a few examples. These have a high shelf life.

Table No. 2 - Below the table shows the antioxidant and antimicrobial preservatives

Antioxidant Preservatives Antimicrobial Preservatives
Antioxidants are the compounds that delay or prevent the spoilage of food. Prevent the growth of microbes, bacteria, fungi and many others in cosmetics, food and pharmaceuticals as well.
Ascorbic acid (vit. C and ascorbates): in bakery wares, fruit juices, drinks and unprocessed fruits and vegetables. Sorbic acid and sorbate are commonly used in processed cheese, fruit and vegetables, bread rolls, and in fine bakery products.
Butylated hydroxyanisole BHA & BHT (hydroxytoulene): Oils, fat-containing products (lipids and glycerides). Benzoic acid and benzoate: used in flavoring fermented milk products; also in processed fish and fishery products.
Citric acids: Non - alcoholic beverages, Jams, Jellies, sauces, cheese, and canned vegetables. Natamycin: used over the surface of cheese and sausage.
Sulfur dioxide and sulfite compounds: dry fruits, fruit preservatives, potato products , mild beverages like wine. Propionic acids and propionates: vinegar, cheese and milk products, and coffee.
Nitrate and nitrite compounds: meat products, pizza, wraps/rolls sandwiches, and poultry products.

WHICH FOOD ADITIVES SHOULD BE AVOIDED?

A number of reasons are present there to avoid the food additives and preservatives that are present in the packages and processed food. These are all added to help keep food fresh longer and also reduce the risk of contamination. Not all the food additives are harmful; there are a few that can be strictly avoided, as discussed below:

Preservative Description Disease
TRANS FAT Trans fats, as seen on grocery store labels, are mentioned on the back of the packet. Companies add hydrogen to oil during the manufacturing process to change the texture and increase the shelf life of packaged food. Increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke.
SODIUM NITRITE This inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria in canned tuna, meats, and sausages. Pancreatic cancer, liver failure.
MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE (MSG) It is comparable to salt or sugar. It is commonly used to enhance the flavor of savory dishes, particularly in Chinese and fast food. Chest pain, heart palpitations, nausea, weakness, numbness, tingling or burning in the face.
ARTIFICIAL FOOD COLOURING Edible food colors are used to color drinks and other foods. Harmful colorings are: yellow 5 and yellow 6, blue 1 and blue 2, and red dye 3. Hyperactivity, allergies, asthma attack.
HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP It is less expensive than cane sugar, which is why manufacturers use this syrup. Found in sweet beverages, frozen pizza, cocktail peanuts, and even bread contains HFCS. Higher risk of NAFLD, obesity, and Type 2 diabetes.
ASPARTAME Artificial sweeteners are commonly used in diet or sugar-free sodas, chewing gum, jellies, Kool-Aid, and even chewable vitamins. Increase blood sugar levels, and even cause anxiety.

HOW ARE FOOD ADDITIVES HARMING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM?

Tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), the worldwide used preservative in all the industries that can harm the immune system. For decades, this has been used to extend the shelf life of many processed foods and it is consumed by people of all ages. Many food additives perform multiple functions, including silently inhibiting the oxidation process and enzyme activity reactions. A study found that the chemicals used in food additives can cause immunotoxicity, which can cause a variety of health problems such as hypersensitivity, chronic inflammation, and immunosuppression. They can also harm the digestive system and cause a variety of autoimmune conditions. Refined grains and sugars can directly attack and increase inflammation and oxidative stress, which can completely destroy immune cells. Every health problem is related to the food we eat and where it comes from. In such cases, one should avoid eating junk food, processed foods, and canned goods. Prepare fresh food at home and consume clean food in sanitary conditions.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga: A Journey Through Ashtang Yoga

ABSTRACT

The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root "yuj," which means "to join." This essentially refers to the integration of body, mind, and soul. Ayurvedic and yoga principles are most likely similar, if not identical. Ayurveda will improve mental and physical health through lifestyle and dietary changes, whereas yoga will unify mind, body, and consciousness. Yoga strengthens the mind by connecting it with the self, soul, or Atma.

Ashtang yoga, Eight limbs of yoga, Aims Of Ashtang Yoga, Benefits of Ashtang yoga, Physical benefits of doing yoga, Mental benefits of doing yoga, Spiritual Benefits Of Doing Yoga

INTRODUCTION

Protozoa are microscopic, single-celled organisms that can live either freely or as parasites. A parasite is an organism that lives on or within a host organism and obtains its food from or at the expense of the host. The dog's intestine contains a large number of parasites. Giardia and coccidia are the most common parasitic infections in dogs' intestinal tracts. These conditions are common in puppies at the weaning stage. Domestic pets are less likely to be infected than stray and shelter dogs. Giardia and coccidia are endemic in areas of the world with poor sanitation. Although the parasites are found in lakes, ponds, rivers, soil and public water supplies. Even the groundwater and surface water can be infected by these parasites from waste water discharge or from the faeces of animals.

EIGHT LIMBS OF YOGA

1. Yama: Social ethics/restraints

The yama is the first stage of ashtang yoga; this represents the practice of self-restraint. This involves abstaining from actions like lying, stealing and violence and also involves being mindful of one's consumption of natural resources. They are in five numbers, as discussed below:

  • Ahimsa: (nonviolence) means not physically harming others, ourselves, or nature, as well as not thinking negatively about others or ourselves. Also, make sure that whatever we do and how we do it is beneficial rather than harmful.
  • Satya: (truthfulness) The word 'sat' literally means true essence or unchanging. Satya also inspires us to always speak the truth, which helps to boost integrity and fills our inner soul with positivity.
  • Asteya: (non-stealing) By keeping our mind and heart free of greed, we can be more generous.
  • Brahmacharya: (celibacy) Brahmacharya can be defined as the proper use of energy, which involves redirecting our energy away from external desires. It also refers to sensory moderation, which means controlling one's impulses and excitement.
  • Aparigraha (unenvious/non-greed): This important yama teaches us to take only what we need. One should limit his/her demands. likewise, nature has gifted us all the necessary things.

2. Niyama (Rules, Guidelines Or Observances)

This is the second limb of the eight limbs that basically describes rules and regulations that one needs to follow for personal and spiritual discipline. This comprises five principles, as mentioned below:

  • Shaucha (Purity): One must protect themselves from negativity, so it is critical to choose their surroundings carefully. The principles and practices of asana, pranayama and meditation are aimed at cleansing the mind and body. By doing deep meditation sessions for a few minutes, one can be free from stress and bad thoughts, and they can reach the highest spirituality.
  • Santosha (bliss): This basically involves accepting and appreciating yourself. This niyama can also help you get rid of the past and set your mind free from expectations.
  • Tapas (purification): this simply means self-discipline and maintaining strong willpower. Tapas help in controlling the premature impulses of the mind.
  • Swadhyaya (simple self-observation): This is an essential component of kriya yoga; swadhayay is self-study as recommended by the yoga sutras—because one is not in yoga unless they are observing themselves and learning from it. Learning from daily experiences allows one to connect with divine powers.
  • Ishwara Pranidhana (devotion): The fifth form of Niyama entails surrendering to God or one's higher self. Like, show your appreciation, love, and kindness to others. Be vulnerable and set boundaries.

3. Asana (Yoga postures)

When practicing yoga, it is important to be mindful of the sitting posture. Furthermore, classical yoga requires that the pose be stable and comfortable, solid yet relaxed. The asanas are a set of postures that help to maintain overall body health. Several asanas in yoga are described as ways to prevent and treat a variety of diseases.

4. Pranayama (Breath Regulation)

This technique is basically involved in controlling and regulating the breathing phenomenon. These are of three types:

  • Rechaka/Bahyavritti pranayama entails holding and controlling breathing outside the body.
  • Pooraka/Aabhyantra vritti pranyama involves holding and controlling breathing within the body.
  • Stambha Vritti pranyama is the practice of blocking the prana vata at its natural location, which can be inside or outside the body.

5. Prathyahara (Senses Restriction)

It is a method of withdrawing the senses from sensual pleasures. This limb of yoga allows one to remain attached to oneself while being detached from objects of enjoyment or worldly pleasure as perceived by the sense organs and mind.

6. Dharna (Concentration Of Mind)

Dharna is an art of focusing the mind over an object or subject so as to inculcate concentration.

7. Dhyana (Meditation)

It entails focusing the mind on a single object and its sphere. Meditation will increase willpower and focus, which will undoubtedly lead to success.

8. Samadhi (Oneness Of Mind With The Soul)

Samadhi means unity of mind with its object of meditation. This is actually a state of bliss, joy, and consciousness merger.

AIMS OF ASHTANG YOGA

CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

Garcinia cambogia contains organic acids, amino acids, benzophenones and xanthones. The primary chemical component of Garcinia is hydroxycitric acid. This is the main ingredient, and it is thought to be responsible for the weight loss and anti-inflammatory effects.

Leaves: Garcinia contains L-leucine, which may help maintain muscle bulk while encouraging weight loss by reducing the muscle damage that occurs during a calorie-restricting diet. All of this is due to the presence of the amino acid leucine, which promotes protein synthesis and muscle development.

Fruit: Garcinol, isogarcinol, and comboginol. These bioactive compounds are found in the fruit and are primarily recognized for their antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. They have the ability to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis.

Rind: Hydroxycitric acid. This is found in the fruit's thick outer layer. HCA is an active ingredient that has been researched for its impact on appetite and obesity. This is commonly available in markets as an appetite suppressant. This essentially prevents the conversion of citric acid to acetyl-CoA, the first step in the fatty acid synthesis.

Seeds: Neutral lipids and glycolipids. Because of their high triglyceride content, neutral lipids are primarily used for energy storage, whereas glycolipids are important for cell membrane stability and recognition.

PRACTICAL USES/BENEFITS

1. Promoting Weight Loss

Garcinia cambogia plays an important role in weight loss. It has been widely used as an anti-obesity or as a weight loss supplement since ages. This amazing benefit is due to the presence of an active compound, hydroxycitric acid. This prevents the fatty acid synthesis by blocking the synthesis of enzymes. Numerous studies have shown that HCA can reduce body weight gain, cholesterol, and triglycerides. Garcinia is also available in the market as capsules and powder. So, for those looking to lose weight, this could be the best supplement for them. Garcinia cambogia promotes fat oxidation (the breakdown of fat into energy). As a result, this may help to increase fat burning efficiency, but only when combined with regular exercise. This may reduce fat accumulation in the body, particularly around the stomach area. This can be extremely useful for preventing fat storage after meals, particularly those high in carbohydrates.

2. Cholesterol Levels Improvement

Many studies found that garcinia cambogia helps improve lipid profiles by reducing bad LDL cholesterol and increase good HDL cholesterol. This can potentially lower the levels by inhibiting an enzyme called citrate lyase. Overall, this can be beneficial for cardiovascular health, and many people can be free from heart diseases.

3. Maintains Blood Sugar Levels

Improving insulin sensitivity refers to how efficiently the body's cells respond to insulin. When it is improved, the body can process glucose from the blood into cells for energy while also preventing hyperglycemia. Diabetics can use this to help control or manage their blood sugar levels. Also, restricting or reducing hunger and food cravings might indirectly contribute to more stable blood sugar levels. overeating or consuming foods that are high in sugar and refined carbs can spike the blood sugar. It is preferable to incorporate a healthy diet alongside herbal supplements.

4. Anti-Inflammatory

Garcinia cambogia has anti-inflammatory properties due to the presence of active components. For example, this may help modulate the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which are proteins that cause inflammation. This works by inhibiting specific inflammatory pathways in the body and also helps to reduce overall inflammation, which may benefit conditions such as arthritis or disorders.

INTRODUCTION

Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune condition, which can be an acute and chronic disorder of unknown etiology characterized by inflammatory mucosal ulcerations of the colon and rectum. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are types of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Ulcerative colitis mostly begins in the rectosigmoid colon but often extends to affect the entire colon. In Crohn's disease, the inflammatory changes are granulomatous/ granulomatous colitis (a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the colon or large intestine) in Ulcerative colitis the inflammatory changes in the colon are nonspecific. The causative mechanisms of both diseases are common.

CAUSES

The specific cause of ulcerative colitis is unknown but some causes are as follows -

  • Abnormal Immune Response - It's an autoimmune condition where the T-cells penetrate the colon and mistakenly attack the healthy cells lining the colon causing inflammation and ulceration in the colon.
  • Genetic Factor - Some research shows that certain genes increase the chance of developing ulcerative colitis. Some regions of the genome linked to cause UC as 12, 16, and 19 but the disorder is influenced by multiple genes.
  • Environmental Factors - Here the factors include, diet, breastfeeding, medication, stress tobacco use, and use of more dietary substances can lead to inflammation of the colon. More intake of vitamin B6 and unsaturated fat may enhance the risk of ulcerative colitis, and also alcohol use eating meat.
  • Microbiome - The good bacteria, fungi or viruses in our gut that help in digestion is called the microbiome, are lacking or in a weak stage if compared with a healthy man and a person suffering from IBD (Inflammatory bowel disease).

SYMPTOMS

  • Abdominal pain
  • Blood and mucus in diarrhea can be seen for days, weeks, or months.
  • In most cases, bloody diarrhea contains stringy mucus, lower abdominal pain, and cramps, usually relieved by defecation.
  • Sometimes fever and weight loss (an asymptomatic interval can be seen for some time after which stress physical or mental may typically cause a flare-up)
  • Toxic Megacolon - sudden cessation of bowel function with the production of toxic dilatation of the colon
  • The bowel may undergo fibrosis with narrowing of the lumen.
  • Sometimes deranged electrolytes due to blood in stools, and rectal bleeding.
  • Dehydration
  • Loss of appetite
  • Rectal tenesmus - Incomplete defecation
  • Pancolitis - enlargement of the entire large intestine

AYURVEDIC ASPECT

Etiology and pathophysiology

In Ayurveda Ulcerative colitis can be related to Raktaatissar (bloody diarrhea with stools). There are some etiological factors explained in Ayurvedic texts regarding Raktajatisar like food that is heavy for digestion (guru), food that has apposite properties (cold potency food and hot potency food intake together), Koshtha (gut), desha (Region or surrounding areas), Intake of meat of Pig, buffalo, fish mixed with oil cake, Intake of pastries in excess after food, unboil milk intake in excess, Intake of excess Katu rasa (Pungent thing), Amla (Sour taste), Lavana (Sour taste), hot potency food intake in excess, Tikshana (Sharp acting things). Because of these etiological factors and the presence of Ama dosha (toxic substance due to indigestion) the Pitta dosha aggravates in Kostha which agitates the inner lining of the large intestine by which the mucosal stem cells get harmed, and there is blood in the stools.

Pathway of diseases and prognosis

The manifestation of this disease is in the lower tract where the body is dominated by Vata (Urethra and anus due to contact with vitiated Vata) and vitiated Pitta which does the Dushti of Rakta which damage to the inner lining of the large intestine and leads to blood in stools.

Treatment According to classic texts

  • Goat’s milk boiled with Padma (Nelumbo nucifera), Utpala (Nymphaea alba), Samanga (Mimosa pudica), Mocarasa (Bombax ceiba) or with Sariva (Hemidesmus Indicus), Yashti (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Lodhra (Symplocos Racemosa Roxb.) or with sprouts of vata (Ficus Benghalensis), etc mixed with honey and sugar is beneficial for use for drinking, as food and for bathing the rectum
  • Meat soup which is not sour and mixed with ghee used for drinking and along with food is beneficial.
  • Paste of Shatavari (Asparagus Racemosus) mixed with milk should be consumed by the person who takes milk only as food, this cures bleeding diarrhea soon, also the medicated ghee of Shatavari (Asparagus Racemosus).

Yakrit Plihantak Churna (Liver Detox Remedy)- Health Benefits, Ingredients, Research, Dosage & Reviews

ABSTRACT

The organ that has to work the hardest to maintain our health and fitness is the liver. The liver processes everything we eat, and if it isn't functioning well—that is, if its health isn't up to par—it won't be able to break down food or shield us from dangerous substances. Liver assists in transforming everything we eat into a form that the body can absorb and use without harming us. But how long will it hold everything there? Our livers break down everything we ingest, including poisons, and in the process, they injure our hepatocytes, or liver cells. If we carry on in this manner, we eventually develop a variety of illnesses, such as fatty liver and liver cirrhosis. It is our responsibility to keep our liver safe from poisons and dangerous chemicals, as it defends us against them. Maintaining a healthy diet and way of life is important, but so is treating yourself to Yakrit Plihantak Churna, an excellent combination of herbs that serves as a superb Ayurvedic liver cleanser. You will also be able to review this fantastic liver detox remedy in this article.

INTRODUCTION

Planet Ayurveda produced the Yakrit Plihantak Churna as a Herbal Remedy for Liver Diseases. This churna is the perfect herbal remedy to maintain general liver health because it contains eight different herbs, all of which have cleansing and liver-protective qualities. The ingredients in this remedy include makoy (Solanum indicum), bhumi amla (Phyllanthus niruri), katuki (Picrorhiza kurroa), and five more, which we will go into more depth about along with their amazing capabilities and the reasons they are used in this herbal remedy. We'll now discuss yakrit plihantak churna and the benefits and features of the herbs used in it.

INGREDIENTS OF YAKRIT PLIHANTAK CHURNA

  1. Bhumi Amla (Phyllanthus niruri): This herb includes bitter, astringent and sweet taste with dry, cold and easy to digest properties. It supports anti-viral,  laxative, antispasmodic, hepato-protective and hypoglycemic effects. It helps prevent liver damage and restore the function of the liver because of its antioxidant effects. This herb helps to preserve the health of the spleen by modulating its activity, thanks to its detoxifying qualities.
  2. Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata):Because of its neem-like taste, kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata) is also known as bhu nimb. It also aids in controlling the liver's enzyme levels. Moreover, its bitter flavour effectively eliminates any related skin irritations, including rashes, pimples, and itching. It has immune-stimulating qualities that help treat liver infections.
  3. Bhringraj (Eclipta alba): Its antioxidant and liver-protective properties prevent damage from free radicals to the liver cells. Taking Bhringraj (Eclipta alba) helps relieve ascites and manage urinary difficulties since it has diuretic qualities, which improve urine flow. Bhringraj (Eclipta alba) is beneficial in treating GI problem symptoms including contractions or spasms in the stomach, bladder, or intestines because of its antispasmodic qualities.
  4. Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa):Its antioxidant qualities shield the Liver from injury caused by free radicals. Its laxative qualities aid in the maintenance of bowel movement, the relief of stomach problems, and the reduction of abdominal pain associated with digestive disorders like constipation. It also reduces hunger, which helps with weight loss. Excellent diuretic qualities of this herb help relieve the body of fluid retention.
  5. Makoy (Solanum indicum):It's called tridosha ghan, or tridosha pacifier, and it contains diuretic qualities that help the body eliminate toxins and lower the risk of developing ascites. The Makoy (Solanum indicum) herb helps maintain a healthy Liver by promoting the regulation of Liver Enzymes. The taste of the herb is bitter with an aftertaste of pungent. It helps reduce endotoxin accumulation because of its potent laxative qualities.
  6. Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa): Katuki (Picrorhiza kurroa) is considered a vital herb for spleen purification and Liver rejuvenation. It removes ama dosha (endotoxins) and regulates blood sugar. Pitta pacifier, the property of kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa), controls the release of digestive enzymes. It works well as a detoxifier, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic. It boosts metabolism generally and improves digestion.
  7. Kasni (Cichorium intybus):By giving the stool more volume and boosting the number of beneficial bacteria in the intestines, kasani (Cichorium intybus) relieves constipation. Kasani (Cichorium intybus) is helpful in eradicating gall bladder stones from the body due to its Pitta balancing qualities. Kasani's (Cichorium intybus) antioxidant activity makes it a highly effective way to stop free radicals from causing harm to the liver. If consumed regularly, kasani (Cichorium intybus) juice may also improve digestion, which will increase appetite.
  8. Sharpunkha (Tephrosia purpurea): Sharpunkha (Tephrosia purpurea) possesses therapeutic, antibacterial, diuretic, antiparasitic, and anti-hyperglycemic qualities. It improves digestive health and efficiently increases bile production and excretion. When it comes to viral hepatitis, liver damage, liver cirrhosis, protein deficiency, UTIs, and other liver-spleen disorders, it works well.
