Clinical Significance Of Chandraprabha Vati In Urinary Disorders

ABSTRACT

The urinary system or urinary tract serves as a filtration system of the body. The urinary system removes wastes and toxins in the form of urine. The main role of this system is to purify blood and separate toxins from the essential nutrients. If there is any problem in this urinary system then the functions of the Urinary System get hampered and cause a lot of problems. Let's discuss further about the various conditions caused due to the hampered urinary system. Also along with that we will discuss the role of Chandraprabha Vati in case of Urinary Disorders.

INTRODUCTION

The kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra make up the urinary tract. The kidneys filter the blood and produce urine, which travels via the ureters to the bladder and is stored there. When the time comes, your bladder muscles contract and urine exits your body via the urethra. Urinary disorders are any diseases or conditions which impact your kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra. Urinary incontinence, kidney stones, interstitial cystitis, kidney failure and UTI are all examples of urinary disorders. Abdominal, lower back, pelvic pain or discomfort; changes in the urine; blood in the urine, difficulty producing urine, frequent urination, fever and chills, urine leaking are typical manifestations of urinary disorders. Several urinary disorders, including infections, may manifest quickly, whereas others, like cancer, manifest slowly.

AYURVEDIC ASPECT OF URINARY DISORDERS

As per ayurveda Urinary Disorders can be considered as Mutravaha Srotas Dushti, so let's see what exactly Mutravaha Srotas is. The roots of urine-carrying channels, including the urethra, ureters, and urinary bladder, are known as mutravaha srotas. Urine excretion pathways have been described as urine transportation roots. According to Acharya Sushruta Mutravaha Srotas include Basti (Urinary Bladder) and Medhra (urethra). And symptoms of injury to these channels include Aanadda Basti (dilatation of Bladder), Mutraghata (Urinary Obstruction) and Stabdha Medhra (erection of penis). According to Acharya Charaka Basti (Urinary Bladder) and Vankshana (Ureters) are considered as channels of urination. Symptoms of vitiation include excessive urination, scanty urination, obstructed urination, frequent urination, painful urination, thickening or urine and increased quantity of urine. Causes of vitiation of Mutravaha Srotas Dushti is if a person intake food, have water or indulge into sex while in the presence of urine urge. So if somebody suppresses the urge of urine, it imparts pressure over the urinary bladder and after a long run it will contaminate the urine transporting channels. Other causes include emaciation and injury to the urinary system.

ROLE OF CHANDRAPRABHA VATI IN URINARY DISORDERS

  • Shilajit (Asphaltum) and Guggul (Commiphora mukul) are the two important substances with piercing and scraping properties present in Chandraprabha Vati. The work of Shilajit (Asphaltum) is more on the urinary system. Therefore, this kalpa (formulation) will work best in urinary tract obstruction and other conditions associated with accumulation of wastes like urinary stones and urine obstruction.
  • Mutra (Urine) consists of Agni (fire element) and Som (water element). If Agni (fire element) descreases, Som (water element) increases along with Kapha Dosha then it leads to various disorders such as urinary granules, urinary stones, etc. In this disease, Chandraprabha Vati will help in breaking the pathogenesis by piercing, scraping and diuretic properties.
  • "मुत्रघातो मुत्राव्रोध।" (ढल्हण)
    "मुत्रघाते तु विबन्दः बलवान् कृच्छत्वमल्पमिति।" ( मधुकोश)
In the case of Mutraghaat (urine obstruction), obstruction is the main cause. Acharyas mentioned 13 types of Mutraghaat (Urine obstruction). Due to piercing, scraping and diuretic effect, chandraprabha is also very effective in case of Urine obstruction.
  • Urine formation starts after splitting of saar (essence) and kitt (waste) bhaag. In this process the liquid waste comes into the urethra named as mutra (urine), then it gets eliminated from the body. Substances like Karchur (Curcuma zedoaria), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Musta (Cyperus rotundus), Panchkol (Piper longum), Pippali mool (Root of Piper nigrum), chavya (Piper retrofractum), Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica) and Shunthi (Zingiber officinale), etc. present in Chandraprabha Vati help in digestion by increasing Jatharagni (digestive Fire), which helps in proper splitting of saar (essence) and kitt (waste). Along with that Danti (Baliospermum montanum), Trivrit (Operculina turpethum) and Triphala (Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Bhibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica) and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) makes chandraprabha vati effective in purgation and normal passage of flatus.
  • This formulation is not only helpful in relieving constipation but also effective in alleviating obstruction in the pathway of urine. Along with that, salts present in it help in persuasion of kapha and vata dosha. Along with that these salts make this formulation good for heart and digestion. Also these salts include a caustic effect which helps in eliminating stones. Also these salts are helpful in removing obstruction in channels forming urine or channels that are helpful in eliminating urine.
  • Vrikk (Kidneys) are made up of medh dhatu (fatty tissues) and prasad (essence of food), this is written in classical texts. That's why vitiation of medha dhatu (fatty tissues) and rakta (blood components) leads to bad impact on vrikk (kidneys). That's why diabetes and blood disorders mostly include some pathology in kidneys.
  • Swarn makshik bhasma (calyx of Copper and iron pyrite) present in Chandraprabha vati is helpful in eliminating aggravated pitta dosha from the body. That's why due to the mutual independence between pitta and rakta, by reduction in pitta vitiation, reduction is also seen in rakta vitiation.
  • Also it includes loha bhasma (calyx of iron), due to which it is quite effective in nourishment of blood components and increases the production of blood components. In case of Kidney diseases, decrease in blood components is seen, so chandraprabha vati helps in increasing blood components as well as reducing swelling in body.
  • Due to suppression of Urine Urge, intake of hot potency, spicy and pungent food, wandering in sunlight, less intake of water, low output of urine and burning micturition occur. Recurrence of these conditions may lead to contamination of the urinary system which further leads to recurrent passage of urine, less urine output, bloody urination, etc used to be seen.
  • Still if proper treatment is not done and the person is still indulging in the causative factors, as a result the above conditions lead to basti shoth (Cystitis), Pyelonephritis, etc.
  • In case of recurrent UTI Usheerasava, chandanasava, sarivadyasava along with chandraprabha vati is to be used.
  • In the urinary system of males there is a gland present named as prostate gland. If there is an enlargement of that gland, it leads to symptoms such as painful micturition, incomplete micturition, recurrent urination, etc. So Chandraprabha Vati due to its piercing and scraping properties are helpful in reducing inflammation of Prostate Gland. With this burning micturition, painful micturition, recurrent urination like symptoms get reduced.

CONCLUSION

Urinary disorders are any diseases or conditions which impact your kidneys, ureters, bladder, or urethra. Urinary incontinence, kidney stones, interstitial cystitis, kidney failure and UTI are all examples of urinary disorders. As per Ayurveda these urinary disorders are correlated with Mutravaha Srotas dushti means the dushti (vitiation) of mutravaha srotas (channels carrying urine). In this article clinical significance of Chandraprabha Vati in various kinds of urinary disorders is mentioned. So as a conclusion of this article Chandraprabha Vati due to its various properties is quite beneficial in almost all kinds of urinary disorders.
