Ayurvedic Treatment For Signet Ring Cell Cancer

SIGNET RING CELL CANCER: OVERVIEW

Signet ring cell cancer -- also called Signet cell cancer or Signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) -- is a rare form of highly malignant cancer which generally affects the glandular epithelial cells that form the lining of the stomach. The cancer gets its name from the appearance of the glandular cells, which look like signet rings when viewed under a microscope.

Although Signet ring cell cancer originates in the stomach in 90 percent of the cases, it is basically a mucin-producing adenocarcinoma which can originate from all organs. Besides commonly developing in the stomach's glandular epithelial cells, the cancer can also develop in the bowel, breast, gallbladder, pancreas, and prostate. In addition, there have also been some incidences of the development of the cancer in the lung.

Signet ring cell cancer accounts for nearly 8.7 percent of the cases of all gastric cancers. Typically, this cancer is presented with scattered infiltration of the gastric wall.

The occurrence of Signet ring cell cancer in some cases is associated with hereditary factors, usually linked to the mutations in the CDH1 gene, which encodes the vital glycoprotein E-cadherin that binds the cells. The trigger of a gastric signet ring cell cancer, as well as it progression, is evidently a result of a down-regulation of E-cadherin.

The risk of the occurrence of Signet ring cell cancer is potentially high for women and young adults.

SYMPTOMS OF SIGNET RING CELL CANCER

The indications of the possible development of Signet ring cell cancer may be different for different patients. However, there are some common symptoms which are related to this cancer. These symptoms are:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Weakness
  • Weight loss
  • Vomiting
  • Anorexia (psychological eating disorder which can potentially be life-threatening)
  • Dyspepsia (persistent or recurrent pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen)
  • Melena (dark, black tarry stools which may be a result of upper gastrointestinal bleeding).

TREATMENT OF SIGNET RING CELL CANCER

In most cases, Signet ring cell cancer is diagnosed during its late stage. As such, the treatment of the cancer can be quite challenging because of the aggressive spread of the tumors as compared to non-signet cancers. Generally, patients suffering from the cancer at the last stage have to undergo Chemotherapy which, unfortunately, has a rather poor curative efficacy.

However, for the management of Signet ring cell cancer, the use of herbal products can be very beneficial. These products, especially when procured from a reputed herbal manufacturing company like Planet Ayurveda, can effectively manage the cancer in a safe and natural manner. These herbal products are prepared under the guidance of Ayurveda experts, from the use of 100% pure and natural herbs.
