NEPHROCALCINOSIS

The deposition of calcium in the kidney that leads to improper functioning of the kidney causes Nephrocalcinosis. This mainly occurs due to excess excretion of calcium by the kidney, renal tubular acidosis and medullary sponge kidney.

• Macroscopic nephrocalcinosis: it is the higher level stage and occurs when calcification can be seen through X-ray imagaing.
