Ayurveda Treatment for Wounds, Skin Ulcers, Diabetic Ulcers, Venous Ulcers, Skin Laceratioins

Your skin is a really great indicator of what's going on inside your body. Skin is the outer covering of our body and the largest organ of the integumentary system. It defends us from the several chemicals, microorganisms and various toxic substances from entering our body. Healthy skin is a reflection of overall wellness. It's not the makeup but it's the healthy skin that is the basis to any look. Any wounds, ulcers or skin infections are enough to disturb anyone.

WHAT CAN BE THE CAUSES OF SKIN DISEASES?

  • Bacterial, fungal and viral infections.
  • A weakened immune system.
  • Contact with allergens, irritants, or infected skin of another person.
  • Genetic factors.
  • Certain diseases like diabetes, kidney infections etc. that are affecting the thyroid, immune system, kidneys and other body system.

CAUSE OF SKIN PROBLEMS IN AYURVEDA

Skin problems in Ayurveda are the result of imbalance of tridoshas- vata, pitta and kapha but prime involvement is of pitta dosha. Vitiated pitta dosha causes the contamination of body tissues and results in skin diseases.

Hence from the treatment perspective, Ayurveda helps to pacify the vitiated pitta doshas and also eliminate the toxins from body.

DIFFERENT SKIN PROBLEMS

Wounds

Wounds happen when the skin is broken or damaged because of injury. There are various types of wounds that can damage the skin like abrasions, lacerations, rupture injuries, punctures, and penetrating wounds. Superficial wounds need only cleansing and dressing whereas deeper wounds need medical attention to prevent the infections to underlying structures like muscles, bones, tendons, arteries and nerves.

Skin Ulcers

Skin ulcer is an open wound on the skin. Small ulcers of the skin can be caused by insect bites, casts and splints which usually heal in a couple of weeks. Where as in the individuals with peripheral vascular diseases, ulcer healing is complicated. Skin ulcers are more common in elder diabetic patients.

Skin Lacerations

Laceration is a deep cut or tearing of the skin. It can occur due to the accidents with knives, tools, machinery etc. In this case bleeding is rapid and extensive.

Non-Healing Ulcers and Wounds

Non-healing ulcers and wounds are defined as wounds that do not recover after four weeks or do not heal even in eight weeks. These type of wounds can occur in diabetic foot ulcers, non-healing surgical wounds, venous-related ulcerations, pressure ulcers, wounds due to metabolic disease or wounds that constantly break down.

Diabetic Ulcers

Almost all the people with diabetes can develop foot ulcers. These type of ulcers are a common complication of poorly controlled diabetes, developing as a result of skin tissue breaking down and exposing the layers underneath. It is a serious problem for diabetic patients which needs to be discussed with the doctor because in severe cases amputation is required.

Venous Ulcers

Venous ulcers occur when the veins in legs do not push blood back up to the heart so blood backs up in the veins and builds up pressure. This increased pressure and excess fluid in the affected area can result in an open sore. Mostly venous ulcers occur on the leg, above the ankle. These type of ulcers slow to heal.
