Granulomatous Mastitis or granular lobular mastitis a rare disease which is quite similar to breast cancer. This disorder is characterized by pain and inflammation of breast. It usually occurs after 2-6 months of pregnancy. Ayurveda provides natural treatment for this disease without any side effects.

WHAT IS GRANULOMATOUS MASTITIS?

It is a breast disorder which causes breast inflammation and develops a tissue mass. This condition is similar to breast cancer and it is difficult to differentiate from breast cancer. The lumps are mostly present in sub areolar region and are hard.

It is very rarely diagnosed in pregnancy and in men. It is easily confused with cancer but it is absolutely benign.

It is of two types:

  1. Idiopathic Granulomatous mastitis or granular lobular mastitis.
  2. Granulomatous mastitis

CAUSES

The exact cause of this disorder is unknown.

  • Obstruction in milk duct
  • Bacterial infection
  • Elevated prolactin level

SYMPTOMS

  • Lump formation in breasts
  • Inflammation of breasts
  • Fluid secretion from breasts
  • Pain
  • Fever
  • Warmth feeling in breast
  • Enlargement of lymph nodes
  • Discharge from nipples

DIAGNOSIS

  • CT scan
  • X-Ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Core biopsy

COMPLICATIONS

This disorder might give rise to serious disorders. In case Granulomatous mastitis forms an abscess, lump then it has to be removed by surgery. And these complications occur in case of negligence. If you take proper care right when the first symptom shows up then it can be cured.

According to Ayurveda, granulomatous mastitis is inflammation of breast is mainly due to vitiation of the three energies. HERBAL REMEDIES FOR GRANULOMATOUS MASTITIS

Herbal Remedies for Granulomatous Mastitis

1. Neem Capsules

These are 100% natural capsules offered by Planet Ayurveda which are made from neem (Azadirachta indica) which belongs to family Meliaceae. It is used in Ayurveda from longer time due to its great medicinal value. It helps to maintain healthy skin. It has various therapeutic properties like anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is helpful in pacifying vata dosha in body.

Dosage: 2 capsules twice daily with plain water after meals.

2. Kanchnaar Guggul

These are pure herbal tablets which are obtained from different herbs which are:

  • Kachnaar bark (Bauhinia variegate)

  • Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)
  • Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellerica)
  • Ginger (Zingiber officinale)

The herbs used in this formulation have great medicinal value. It has various therapeutic properties like astringent, anthelmintic and anti – oxidant properties. It also helps to flush out toxins in the lymphatic system.

Dosage: 2 capsules twice in a day with plain water after meals.

3. Nirgundi Oil

It is an herbal oil obtained from different herbs:-

  • Til oil (Sesamum indicum)
  • Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia)
  • Haldi (Curcuma longa)
  • Nirgundi (Vitex negundo)
  • Kalihari (Gloriosa superba)

It has anti-inflammatory properties which helps to stop inflammatory condition.

Application:

It is used for external use only. Apply on affected skin area. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water. It is more beneficial to apply Nirgundi oil before bath to reduce swelling, pain and irritation.

4. Boswellia Curcumin

5. Gandhaka Rasayana

Patients with diabetes should administer it with care as it consists of sugar.
